New Picture.jpgThis month we are asking you to join us in a concerted prayer for the Muslim world and the living martyrs of Jesus Christ that God has drawn out of Islam. These believers meet secretly throughout the Islamic countries and continue to share their faith at great risk.

During my last trip to North Africa, I was able to visit with many Muslim background believers in Jesus Christ. All of them reported that they had a dream or a vision as part of the process of coming to faith. God has called us to pray for Muslims to encounter Christ. Even more we are commanded to pray for the household of faith. Today this includes Muslim background believers worshiping Jesus in the underground churches throughout the Islamic world. Our witness of Christ is strengthened as we support our brothers and sisters in Christ in the Muslim world.

August 11th - September 9th 2010 are the dates for  Ramadan.

For thirty days Muslims do not eat or drink during daylight hours. They read the whole Qur'an and become quite religious in everything they do. This is also a season of great persecution against Christians. Your prayers overrule the prince of darkness! You can go to the web-site to purchase your prayer guide.

FEARLESS LOVE IN PAKISTAN

"David is able to pray for  over 60 seeking Muslims during his visit to Pakistan.
Thumbnail image for mm david praying for Pakistani's 2.jpg
I met Muslims in Pakistan who discovered a life of righteous love through faith in Christ.  Many wonder how any Muslim can become a Christian since the Qur'an commands death to apostates.  All Muslim background believers in Jesus are persecuted for their faith.  Regularly, I hear Muslim background believers' stories of God's grace through the storms of difficulty. The mystery of this indomitable faith is settled in Hebrews 1:3.  For Christ is "the exact representation of His (GOD'S) nature (Greek-Hupostasis) ..." Hebrews 11:1 states, "Now faith is the assurance (Greek-Hupostasis)..."  Both the English word nature and assurance are translated from the one Greek word Hupostasis.  In other words, faith's foundation (Hupostasis) is the essence of Christ! Faith is not about simple philosophy or platitudes of living. "He (Christ Himself) will never leave us nor forsake us." Hebrews 13:5.  Fearless Faith is the Holy Spirit of Christ abiding in the mortal body of His saints.

Muslim convert to Christ- neujon.jpg
On my visit to Pakistan I met brother "Noah." He grew up as a typical Muslim - Islam was his religion and Allah his god.  He would daily pray "The Opening" from Chapter one of the Qur'an.  "...Master of the Day of Judgment, Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.  Show us the straight way, the way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace..."   Everyday Muslims around the world cry out this prayer.  When Noah was 18 years old he saw a vision of a man radiant with light and hovering above a river.  The man of light picked up Noah and held him to his chest and then spoke, "I am the way, the truth and the life."  The man of light put Noah back to the ground and suddenly the vision was over.  Noah only knew Islam so he assumed that this heavenly man was a holy imam from Muhammad's time.

"Two Muslim men waiting at a
Christian medical clinic dressed
in white shawar kemis'"
mm two muslim men2.jpg
Noah is a business man.  He owns a sewing machine service center.  Noah shared with me how nine years before I met him a Christian employee invited him to come hear a Christian evangelist speak.  This became a divine appointment.  He put on his best pressed white cotton shawar kamis.  In Pakistan most Muslims wear this traditional outfit usually cleaned and pressed which is a contrast to the grime, dust and poverty.  The pants are like large pajamas and are tied together around the waist with a string.  The top is a modest loose fitting long sleeve with a slight V-neck.  Noah would never dare enter a church for fear of other Muslims seeing him attend a Christian meeting, but the meeting was being held outside in a large courtyard in the Christian ghetto area.  He became one man in a sea of clean pressed shawar kamis'.

As the evangelist began to speak Noah's heart was warmed by the words of scripture and the explanation of the gospel. "Was this true that Christ loved me and could forgive me of my sins?" Suddenly Noah was seeing a vision.  Above the evangelist hovered the same man of light that Noah had seen forty years before.  This time that man declared, "I am Jesus."  Faith filled Noah's heart as he received the gift of salvation.  He knew his life now belonged to Christ.

"Pray for God to give faith in Christ to a new generation of Pakistani children."
zeba's home out door and children.jpg
Noah's faith has been tested.  His family despises his Christian faith.  They tried to put him out of business.  He is insulted and threatened with death.  For nine years his faith in Christ sustained him.  He opened his wallet and showed me a hand written note placed where most people put a picture of their family.  In pen are the words of  John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one shall come to the Father except through me."  God answered his life time of prayers to find the straight path.   Noah joyfully displays this verse in his wallet, he is truly a card carrying witness for Christ - and he never leaves home without it!

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Are "Allah" and "God" the same?

"Pray for Malay Muslims to have their eyes opened to the "Allah" of the Bible."
Thumbnail image for Muslims
Are "Allah" and "God" the same?  This is one of the questions I receive the most as I travel and speak across the United States.  This question is asked by Christians and Muslims.  In Malaysia it is presently a hot topic that has even invoked violence.  In January, 2009 the government of Malaysia declared that Christians could not use the word "Allah".  On September 11, 2009 over 15,000 Bibles were confiscated for translating "Allah" for "God".   The Catholic Church appealed the decision and on December 31 the court ruled that "Allah" was legal for Christians to use in referring to the "God" of the Bible.  Since that decision some fundamental Muslims have burned, ransacked or completely destroyed eleven churches.  Fundamental Muslims argue that "Allah" of the Qur'an is not the same "God" of the Bible.

Christians have also divided sides on this issue.  There are some who argue for "Allah" being the same and others who say no.  The title "Allah" is not found in the Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek texts.  The revealed name of God is YHWH and is usually rendered as Yahweh.  So what is the answer?

"Allah" was a name for "God" in pre-Islamic days.  In fact Muhammad's father's name was Abd-'allah'.  There is some evidence that Christians of pre-Islamic Arabia even used the title.  Therefore, "Allah" is a legitimate pronoun for a supreme being.

"Allah is translated for Elohim in Genesis 1"
image002.jpg
When the Arabic Bible was first translated it used the Hebrew  "Elohim" (self exsistant one) for "Allah" and the Greek "Theos"(supreme being) for "Allah".  In the same way the English word "God" is not found in the original texts of scripture.  The word comes from Anglo Saxon and Germanic roots as a generic pronoun to mean supreme being.  In the scriptures "Elohim and Theos are translated as "God" for English.

When I was in Iraq visiting the Christians and Muslim background believers in Jesus, I heard them use the word "Allah" in their worship and prayers.  I worshiped with them as I recognized this Allah as the Son of Righteousness and they quoted scriptures from the Bible.

Historically "allah" and "god" were titles referring to pagan or idol deities. Man has created many "gods" or "allahs" in the world.  The translation of these words for Elohim and Theos were actually a redemptive work by connecting the idol names to the God of the Bible.  The real issue is which allah is a person referring to? The Allah of the Bible or the Allah of the Qur'an.

"The Malay Court ruled on December 31, 2009 that the name Allah was legal for Christians to use. Here is one of eleven churches have been damage or destroyed since that ruling."
malaysia-church-burned.jpg
While there are many similarities between the Allah of the Bible and the Allah of the Qur'an the ultimate issue is what are the differences and can they be reconciled?  The real problem is the difference in their character.  Allah of the Qur'an demands that Muslims fight (jihad) on behalf of Islam while Allah of the Bible commands that vengeance is His and that followers of Christ should not seek revenge.  Allah of the Qur'an commands Muslims to resist their enemies.  Allah of the Bible commands believers to love, bless and pray for their enemies.  Allah of the Qur'an cannot be known.  Allah of the Bible is known and reveals himself in the form of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Allah of the Qur'an is a war god and his greatest commandment is obedience.  The Allah of the Bible is love. The greatest commandment of Allah of the Bible is to love God and love others.

These differences cannot be reconciled.  Therefore, the Allah of the Qur'an is a different God of the Allah of the Bible.  Next time someone asks you if "Allah" is "God," ask them which "Allah"?  The Allah of the Bible or the Allah of the Qur'an?

Fearless Hope in the Muslim World

Muslim worldwide are seeking an eternal hope
Thumbnail image for Muslim man looking out window.JPG
Hope comes to every soul who is born of the spirit of God through Jesus Christ.  Muslims are experiencing a new hope across the world by finding faith in the Son of God.   "Muslim" means slave or obedience to Islam.  Muslims are obedient to Islam out of fear of Allah.  Fear is the spirit that perpetuates Islam.  According to the Qur'an the weapon of Allah is to inflict "terror" upon the infidels. (Surah 3:151)  Islam teaches that a Muslim cannot have assurance that they are going to heaven, so all Muslims fear judgment day before Allah.  When Muslims become a new creation through Jesus Christ the old spirit of fear is replaced with a new spirit of HOPE.

"If the spirit of fear was removed from the Islamic world today half of the Muslims worldwide would become a Christian." shares Mujahid El Masih, a Muslim background believer from Pakistan.  An American worker to the Muslim world shares that former Muslims testify they enjoy the colors and smell of flowers for the first time after being born again.  This report may sound random, but a divine hope gives a new perspective on life, even the enjoyment of flowers.

Romans 8:24  "For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?"
SOM has supplied camels to transport the gospel
What exactly is the hope that Muslim background believers are finding?  These new believers share their answer with me all the time. In essence they testify that it is the love of God demonstrated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.  Like a woman waking from a coma is the Muslim who comes to faith in Christ.  Their world is changed.  The hope they hold is too great to hide.  It must be shared with others.  These believers begin witnessing their faith to other Muslims.  They experience rejection, torture, imprisonment and all sorts of persecutions but the hope they have is greater than their suffering.  They are truly martyrs of love with a growing fearless hope.

Abraham is a Christian I meet in Egypt.  He had little hope because peace with God had evaded him.  He was desperately seeking God reading the Bible and the Qur'an.  Both books conflict with each other on the nature of Jesus.  In his testimony he shares, "All these thoughts bombarded my mind and fought in my heart.  I was afraid of God's wrath that came upon infidels.  Whenever I knelt down for prayers, I cried from the bottom of my heart, Oh, God, show me the truth.  If Mohammed is right, I will follow Him until I die.  If Christ is right, I will follow Him until I die. I would give my whole life to you and serve You at whatever the cost may be.  I kept repeating this prayer until Christ came to me in a vision.  He said to me in His kind voice, I love you."

Jesus is the bond that connects us together
"...I was so happy, dancing like a small child and praising God.  Being a fair judge, God sentenced His Son to die in our place so we don't have to spend eternity in hell." Into the Den of Infidels, with permission from The Voice of the Martyrs. {This book is available at our outreach web site}  Abraham has experienced much persecution for his faith.  He is a faithful witness of Christ and continues to share his testimony with others.

Early Witnesses of Christmas?

2009-12-first-baptist-church-of-bethlehem-bethlehem-israel.jpg
Who were the early witnesses of Christmas? Some of the first witnesses of Christ are overlooked. The serpent was told that the offspring of Eve (Christ) would bruise his head in Genesis 3:15 and Satan has been a raging lion ever since. The prophets foretold of the great and awesome coming of the Messiah and they were persecuted. Even the stars themselves became witnesses of the birth of Christ. Their light proclaimed the coming King of Judah and then again witnessed to the location toward the town of Bethlehem. The angels knew Jesus' majestic divinity from the beginning and then watched Him leave His thrown to be robed in flesh as a baby. Their joy could not be contained and they celebrated with mankind as they sang to the shepherds.

image007.png
Today, Muslim background believers are the early witnesses of Christ in a new revival of Muslims coming to faith in Jesus. Many Muslims are hearing the full Christmas message for the first time this season. Our persecuted brothers and sisters are bearing His witness with joy. Dr. Naim Khoury is a Palestinian and the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Bethlehem, Israel. The First Baptist Church has been bombed by Muslims fourteen times. Reverend Khoury himself has been ambushed and shot three times. Still he keeps saying: "Israel is God's people and His promises will be fulfilled." God's promises include the children of Ishmael. Genesis 17:20 "As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him..." Naim has not given up on testifying to the birth, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ in our Lord's birthplace. He is a bold living martyr of Jesus Christ. He loves his enemies and shares the gospel of hope in word and deed.

image009.jpg
One day Muslims with Hamas were fleeing for their lives as they were being chased by soldiers. These young Muslim men were trapped near the church and would be killed if found.  In an act of great courage and mercy, Naim gave them refuge and saved their lives. He knew some of these men. They had persecuted him and had tried to burn down the church. After his act of kindness some of the men visited his services on Sunday morning.

image011.jpg
It has been estimated that the combined witnesses of the unknown Christians of history have led more people to faith in Christ than the combined efforts of the well known evangelists such as Dwight Moody, Charles Finney, or Billy Graham. This Christmas may we join together in praying and remembering the Naim Kourys of this world.

image010.png
Spirit of Martyrdom supports these overlooked witnesses of Christ by supplying materials and aide.  Also, consider taking the opportunity to let a Muslim know that Jesus loves them. (www.MuslimEducationCenter.com is where you can find tracts, books, DVDs and Bibles to give away.)  We want to thank all of you who have given sacrificially in 2009 to partner with us in serving the living martyrs. We pray that our relationship together continues to grow as we serve you with stories and teachings that inspire.

We pray that together with your support in 2010 we will continue to strengthen the witness of the Body of Christ. If you would like to help spread the influence of our ministry we are offering our book Fearless Love, In the Midst of Terror as a gift for any tax-deductible year end donation given before December 31, 2009. We hope that you can then give this book away to someone interested. When giving please mention your interest the Fearless Love book in the reference box.

Last of all, consider becoming a witness for Christ on our blog. We invite you to briefly share your story of faith. Who was your early witness of Jesus that helped you understand the true meaning of Christmas? Take this opportunity to bring him/her tribute.
May you all have a blessed and very Merry Christmas!

Underground Church in America?
Fatima Praises God
for the support of others
image004.jpg
Fatima is a 17 year old Muslim background believer in Jesus from Sri Lanka. On November 18, 2005 a Korean friend invited her to church. "At church they stood and sang with fire in their eyes, it was contagious. I felt nothing but love," Fatima shared. This began a new life for Fatima as she surrendered her life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Her parents are devout Muslims and pray five times a day. They belong to a fundamental mosque that has supported terrorism. She knew they would be extremely upset and even violent if they discovered her Christian faith. She began to read her Bible secretly in the bathroom or late at night in her bedroom. She was able to find fellowship with other Muslim background believers and Christians on the internet. She would sneak to church and Christian meetings. Fatima was able to obtain Christian materials discreetly. One book that helped her is called, Is the Injeel Corrupted? Fouad Masri, the author and an ex-Muslim, states in his book "radical Islam is a reflection of a spiritual thirst that can only be quenched through the teachings and the life of Christ." (You can find this book at www.MuslimEducationCenter.com) This book and others helped her become bolder as she shared her faith with others at school. Her parents became aware of her Christian faith and her father Muhammad announced, "if you have Jesus in your heart then you are dead to me." Later Muhammad exploded at Fatima and told her that if she did not give up her Christian faith he would kill her to protect the family's honor. Muhammad could trace his heritage of Muslims back 150 generations. Fatima was the first to become a Christian and this would disgrace the family.

Fatima knew her dad was serious. She knew the verse in the Qu'ran of Surah 4:89, "But if
Pray for the Bary Family
that the veil of deception be taken away
from their eyes to see the light of Jesus
image006.jpg
they turn back (from Islam), take them and kill them..." Other teachings in the Hadith and the jurisprudence in the history of Islam is clear: Death to Apostates. From her research on the internet, she had found that Islamic honor killings averaged 5000 girls a year.

Her parents left no options. She must reject her Christian faith. However, it was too late for Fatima. She had been baptized and Christ's love filled her heart and mind. The choice had already been made. She belonged to Jesus. He was first in her heart. The Scripture prophesied of these days in Matthew 10:36-37: "And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me."

Fatima realized that if she really loved her parents then she needed to be true to her witness of Jesus Christ. Hopefully one day they would know Him too. On July 19, 2009 she fled her home and left a note for her parents: "Jesus is my savior, I cannot deny Him, nor will I ever. I pray that you find His mercy and forgiveness just as I have. Love you both dearly." Fatima fled south by a bus, a thousand miles away from her home. She had corresponded with a Christian ministry on the web and was fleeing to their protection.

the custody battle. She is persecuted
for her faith but will not shrink back.

Fatima's full name is Fatima Rifqa Bary. All this happened in the United States. Her family immigrated to America in the year 2000. She lived in Columbus, Ohio and she fled to Orlando, Florida. She is presently back in Columbus, Ohio in foster care. From the pressure of her father's lawyer, Fatima Rifqa cannot contact Christian friends via the internet nor the phone. The judge gave a "gag order" and the Ohio Child Protective Services and the court cannot give any information regarding her case or the present condition of Fatima Rifqa Bary. The spirit of Shariah law (Islamic Law) haunts Rifqa even in the United States.

Fatima Rifqa Bary is a bold witness of Christ. She is a living martyr. Her witness of Christ emboldens us. She is helping other Muslims abandon all for the forgiveness and joy found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. She said in a TV interview that she is ready to die for Christ if that is needed. Rifqa is 17 years old. She is our daughter and sister in Christ. Please pray for her. Pray for the judge over this case that God would give him wisdom. Pray everything is brought to the light and that Rifqa will again regain her freedom.

Rifqa demonstrates that the underground church is alive and well even in the United States of America. There are others like Rifqa walking the streets of America today. Help strengthen this part of the Body of Christ in our own land by praying for Muslims and sharing the Gospel with them. Thank you for joining us in serving the living martyrs and witnessing Jesus Christ to Muslims. Our outreach would not be possible without your prayers and financial partnership.

Share your insight and prayers right now by using our blog form below. Share this concern with others and be ready to voice your indignation with the court system if her safety is ultimately put at risk.

FEARLESS LOVE
in Africa

Aissatu is a Muslim background
believer in Jesus from Guinea
Bissau, Northwest Africa.
Aissatu_Center.jpg
Aissatu (I Sa' Tu) is joyful, full of life, and vigor. She is a Muslim background believer in Jesus from Guinea Bissau,(GB) Northwest Africa. Her testimony is a story of sadness and pain to joy and fearless love.

At three years old, she was orphaned and taken in by her aunt. Aissatu was treated by them as a second class citizen, a level above a slave. Growing up she knew very little love. As a Muslim she was taught about Allah--he was the supreme being and demanded obedience. Muslims aren't taught the sacrificial love (Agape) of Yahweh (God of the Bible)--it's not taught in the Qur'an and unknown by Muslims.

Aissatu married a Muslim man and bore four children. Her husband was a hard man who would beat her and withheld food and money from her and the children. Aissatu had to forage food for her family to survive. Finally, he threw her and the children out. He divorced her and married two other women.

[Living as a single mom in Guinea Bissau, Africa is difficult. In July 2006 the World Bank reported GB the sixth poorest nation in the world. Nearly eighty percent of its citizens make less than $2 a day. The life expectancy is 48 years old. There's no central electricity, water, sewer, and trash services. There's no central banking. The roads and the floors of homes are dirt. One day during our visit it took five hours to drive 60 miles in a Toyota Land Cruiser. The eastern part of Guinea Bissau is 90% Muslim population. We were told, by our contact, that there are over 1000 villages and only 100 of these have seen the Jesus movie or heard any proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.]

Aissatu found a job repairing roads under the hot African sun. She had to break rocks into
Aissatu_Center.jpg
Aissatu among her crops
smaller pieces and patch pot holes. In 2001 she was at a breaking point. She was starving, grueling under heavy work, and faced the daily difficulties of raising four young children. One night after exploding in anger at the children she ran out of her shanty home, onto the road, and threw herself to the ground. She cried out for help to the only God she knew,  Allah. Suddenly she heard an audible voice say. "Go to the Christian leaders and they will help you." The next day she sought out a pastor. He gave her a bag of rice and a Bible. He explained how the bag of rice would soon be gone but what she needed for life and eternity was a personal relationship with Jesus. He would never forsake her. That day Aissatu gave her life to Christ.

When the pastor would pick her up for church, Aissatu would lie on the car floorboard in fear of persecution from other Muslims. It took several months before she overcame her fear. She began to work as a cook for a Christian couple. In the beginning she was a timid, frightful person. The first night after she cooked and served their meal, she went out back to eat by herself.  Immediately, the couple invited her in to eat with them.  She felt unworthy. The Christian couple explained how we are all equal before God. That night they ate together. This was a turning point for Aissatu. She saw God's care for this couple. If God, truly, loved all people equally then He would take care of all her needs too.  God's love dissipated her fears.

Aissatu_Center.jpg
Aissatu on her new motorcycle
The Scriptures declare in II Timothy 1:7-8  "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God."

Today, Aissatu testifies to the fearless love of Jesus Christ. She shares her faith with Muslims at great cost and risk. The love of Jesus has given her boldness. She is a living witness of love conquering fear. Spirit of Martyrdom (SOM) was able to give her a portable DVD player to show the Jesus movie. She visits Muslim homes for personal viewings. Once, she was booked two months ahead with families who had requested a viewing. Until this year she had to walk many miles to visit Muslim homes. This year she received a motorcycle to reach more Muslims. This spring she showed the Jesus movie to a small Muslim village. They wanted to know more. When she brought back a pastor, who shared the gospel, over half the village responded to receiving Christ by faith. Many Muslims she has prayed with for salvation have been kicked out of their homes. To help these new believers she asked God for a field to plant crops so she could feed the persecuted Christians. A chief in the area heard she was helping the poor and wanted to help--he gave her a plot of land.

Last year, a man stole from her property. He was caught, but instead of pressing charges Aissatu hired him to harvest the fields. She said, "if he was that desperate to steal, then he needs a job."

Father-Heart of God

Richard Wurmbrand testifies to
the love of His Father in prison
Richard-Wurmbrand-MED.jpg
Richard Wurmbrand was a Romanian Jew who found faith in his Messiah at the age of 27.  He became a pastor and a great Christian leader in Romania.  Ultimately, he suffered three years in solitary confinement, tortured, and 14 years in prison for his faith in Jesus.  The Communist starved him and served him drugs.  His body and mind became very weak.  Despite his difficult conditions, Pastor Wurmbrand would begin each day with the Lord's Prayer.  One day he could only remember the first two words of the Lord's Prayer, "Our Father."  He wept bitterly as he felt that the Communist had stolen his mind.  "How can I be a good pastor now and not remember the sacred prayer of Jesus," he thought.  Suddenly he remembered the greeting of his son Mahai. Each day when he returned home from work at the church,  "Papa!" Mahai would squeal with joy as he ran to his daddy.  Nothing more needed to be said to bring Richard joy at the sound of his son.    At that particular moment in the prison cell, he knew God was pleased to hear only his name.  Peace, joy and love flowed over his body as he repeated the words, "Our Father, my Father, Papa."

There is no title

Islam declares that there are 99 holy names of Allah.  "Father" is not one of them.  You cannot find the word for Father to describe Allah in all the Qur'an or Hadith.   Allah is judgmental, distant and unknowing.
Yet every boy and girl, young and old, yearns to have a loving relationship with their human and divine father. "Like father, like son."  The Scriptures tell us that they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. (John 16:3)  Jesus is referring to the persecution and martyrdom of his children.  Muslims' spiritual father is Allah.  Allah is the god of war and violence.

Like rejected and angry orphans, fundamental Muslims persecute Christians because they reflect their distant father.  When Muslims become new creations through faith in Jesus Christ they give up the ways of their old father and now bear witness to their perfect Heavenly Father.

Jesus declares three verses before 16:3 that His disciples will bear witness or testify to the Son and the Father.  John 15:27 is directly in the middle of Jesus' discourse on the world hating him, the Father and the persecution of the Church. This Greek word for witness is martureĊ.  The tense is present perfect and is related to the Greek word Martus-modern

word for martyr. (The inspiration behind the name of Spirit of Martyrdom ministries.)  In other words, Christians are to continually bear an honorable testimony representing our Heavenly Father.

We all would like to ease and stop the persecution of Christians.  There is a way.  Bear witness of Jesus Christ to our enemies!  If the love of our Heavenly Father will abide inside the hearts of Muslims, persecution will stop.  The God of the Bible loves fundamental Muslims.  Muslims are aching for acceptance and forgiveness of sins from their true Creator- Father.  Please join us in testifying of His love.  You can find testimonies to share with Muslims at www.MuslimEducationCenter.com

This month we are highlighting the book, I Dare to Call Him Father.  This book demonstrates the Father heart of God.  It tells the powerful story of a Pakistani Muslim woman finding faith in Jesus Christ and experiencing intimacy with our Heavenly Father.

Romans 5:18  Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.

um_nidal.jpg
Palestinian Mother Um Nidal

Um Nidal is a Muslim Palestinian mother and has proudly sent three sons to die as martyrs of Islam.  Um Nidal is revered for this noble accomplishment among the Muslim world.  The Palestinian media proclaimed, "Paradise is under the feet of the mothers.  Praise is due to this woman and to every Palestinian mother..."  Why?  One reason is she now finds pardon for her sins and a guaranteed entrance into heaven as recorded in the Hadith from Al Tirmidhi.  Who records that the sixth jewel upon the head of every Muslim martyr is, "He will be able to intercede for seventy of his family members (who would have otherwise gone to hell)."
A suicide martyr is called "Fida'e," from the root Arabic word "Fidyah" (sacrificial lamb) the need for atonement from sins is a missed fundamental part of Islam.  The Holy Spirit has kept a witness of this Truth even in a false gospel like Islam.  God's love is near to Muslims but their eyes are blind to the revelation.

Ironically, one of Muslims greatest attacks against Christianity is the atonement and justification of sins through Jesus Christ.  Muslims will say, "How can you Christians think that Jesus' sacrifice paid for your sins?  Each person must pay for their own sins." Muslims miss the hypocrisy of this statement within Islam.  The greatest deed of a Muslim is to die in jihad.  It has the greatest reward which includes an "atonement" for "hell bound" family members based upon the justification of the obedient Muslim martyr.  Therefore, many Muslim mothers are finding their "sacrificial lamb" in their martyred sons instead of the ultimate Sacrificial Lamb, Jesus Christ.  Unfortunately scripture is clear that Um Nidal's son's violent blood sacrifice is not accepted by the Holy Creator of the universe and those boys are in hell.  Um Nidal will join them if faith in Jesus Christ is not experienced soon.

Martyr of Love Chris Leggett
God continues to send martyrs of love in place of Islamic martyrs of terror.  Chris Leggett from Tennessee was martyred June 22, 2009 in a nation considered 100 percent Muslim citizens called Mauritania, Africa.  He was murdered by fundamental Muslims for quote, "converting Muslims to Christianity."  Most of his work was helping impoverished Muslims with technology skills.  He was in Mauritania for six years sacrificing for the good of Muslim souls.  He paid the ultimate price and his life was given as a blessing.  His blood points towards Jesus Christ, who forgives sins.
Chris Leggett's sacrifice has paid off.  Today there are Muslims in North Africa who have found faith in Jesus Christ.  These believing Muslims are bold sacrificial witnesses of Christ.  We have reports of them being tortured, held captive, unemployed, threatened with death, displaced yet they testify of God's miraculous intervention and provision for their needs.
Please join us in praying for Muslim background believers worldwide who have found justification for their sins in Jesus Christ.   Pray for the blind eyes of Muslims that they will see their need for a savior and how the atonement of sins from the Islamic martyrs is false.

FEARLESS FAITHFUL
of Colombia

Swinging Bridge
Russell is one of our contacts in Colombia who exemplifies a life of Fearless Faith.  The Scripture tells us that faith is the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)  One characteristic that is clearly seen after meeting with Russell is that his conviction comes from his intimacy with Christ.  He is a man who has been with Jesus. (Acts 4:13)  The six days that we  "hung out" (see front cover) with Russell and other Colombian Christians were faith building.

The first picture is our team crossing a river at a place only a couple of miles from a guerilla camp.  Most every day we were near hostile areas of conflict.  One day we flew a small Cesena 180 over guerilla territory while carrying Bibles and Christian literature for the rebels.  Along the way, he pointed out areas where he had been held hostage for five months. We were flying into the war front to attempt negotiations for the freedom of three hostages.

When we landed the government soldiers told us that they had shot and killed a guerilla sniper 100 yards off the runway 15 minutes before we arrived.  We  recognized God's providence in the timing of our landing.  That morning our plane had nearly crashed from a blown out rear tire.  The delay from the flat tire protected us by arriving after the threat of being in the scope of a sniper!

Other activities during this time included visiting with top paramilitary officers, top government officials, and many believers who risk their lives daily for the witness of Jesus Christ.  One day we drove half way up a high mountain to retrieve a broken computer that was running a radio repeater tower.  The Christian brother who ran the repeater had to walk miles down the mountain carrying a large desk top computer to meet us.  As we drove up the mountain, Russell pointed out places along the road where he knew of people that had been shot and killed.

We also traveled through the jungle to see different parts of their ministry outreach.  While activities like this are unusual for Americans, we found that this was a normal day of ministry for these Christians in Colombia.  The most attractive part of their lives was their love and passion for Jesus Christ and to bring a bold witness of Christ to the violent rebel groups.  Their conviction is that peace can come to Colombia only through faith in Jesus Christ.  These courageous living martyrs had the mark of those who had been with Jesus.

The highlight for the Spirit of Martyrdom team was having dinner with a FARC soldier named Jose.  Jose had been severely injured while fighting government troops in the jungle.  Russell heard of Jose's medical need.  Russell then made the treacherous journey driving hours into the jungle to deliver him safely to the hospital.  Russell oversaw Jose's recuperation.  In the previous year some FARC soldiers had tried to ambush and kill Russell three times.  The Fearless Faith of Jesus continues to give Russell peace and courage to love his enemies.

Spirit of Martyrdom ministries has partnered with The Voice of the Martyrs to serve the living martyrs of Colombia.  During this past year Spirit of Martyrdom ministries has helped purchase and install three radio stations, upgrade two trucks to deliver Christian materials in jungle areas, distribute radios and Christian materials, funded repairs for the Cesena 180 and gave funds to the living martyrs risking their lives for the witness of Jesus Christ. Thank you for your vital partnership in Colombia through the ministry of Spirit of Martyrdom.
