My name is Ali and I am 22 years old. I was born in an ordinary religious family, but my family members were always quarreling. This situation made me a nervous, impatient person in many aspects of my life. I grew up in a neighborhood of criminals and drug dealers.

My older brother and I never got along. We could never speak calmly with one another. It was like we were enemies.

One day I asked my brother for the money he borrowed from me and he said he had no money. I hurt myself with a knife and ripped my head open. I was very angry about my life and when I felt powerless about my problems I would hurt myself with knives.

I started reading stories about God and knowing the truth about who He is and what He has done for me. I saw Jesus praying on the cross for the people crucifying him and asking God to forgive them. I saw the way He always talked about forgiveness, but I always acted out in hatred and anger. I became upset about the way I acted and decided to change my lifestyle and behavior.

I started seeing my brothers as brothers and loving them and acknowledging their birthdays, which was something I had never done before. When my brother started fighting with me I left instead of fighting.

Now my relationships with my brother, his wife and my family are much better and if I get angry my family tells me, “Ali you never get angry anymore, what are you doing?”

God has changed my family’s mind toward me and they don’t remember me as the one who was fighting every day in the streets and was always in different police stations. Everybody knows me as a kind man now.

I am still reading the stories from the Bible and I have shared them with many of my friends. Some of them are still reading with me.

I want to give all my life and all I have to Jesus Christ. I hope to make people know the truth and receive God’s salvation.
